DIY Nut Milks

Vegan. Gluten free. Dairy free. Serves approx 4.

Ingredients

1 cup Honest to Goodness Organic Almonds

Filtered water

Nut Milk Bag

Method

Place almonds in a bowl & cover with filtered water.  Allow to soak for 12-24 hours.  Strain the almonds, discard the water & rinse almonds in fresh water.  Place almonds in a high powered food processor/blender with 4 cups of filtered water.  Blend until the nuts are broken down & the mixture has a creamy appearance.   This will take 1-2 minutes.

Line your nut milk bag over a large bowl or jug & pour the almond milk through the bag.  Squeeze the bag to ensure all the milk is out.

Store in glass container in the fridge for approx. 5 days.

Tips:

The longer you soak your nuts the creamier the milk will be.

Like a thicker milk? Add only 3 cups of filtered water.

Sweeten your nut milk with maple syrup, brown rice syrup, dates, cinnamon or vanilla powder.  Add the sweetener at the same time you blend the nuts.

Dairy free milks can be made from other nuts & seeds or try a combination such as cashew & almond
